Using this to reinstall the smartcard service and bam - itunes now works. I also had the Microsoft Smart Card Base Componentsprogram installed, which i uninstalled with Revo Uninstaller Pro. The middleware won't recognize reader on desktop even though Device Manager indicates the reader is installed and operating properly. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

When trying to start "Smart Card Resource" service on my desktop, I get the Error 1068 message. i started to see my pc slow down so i did all the standard (cleaning, delete all tmp files, etc) it did not help. It was fine and was able to complete all the webatm progress before that. Yes, I have tried the remedies you describe.
